"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.

My old account has fallen into disuse, and I'd like to step up as a viable member of this community, without the stigma of my lame old profile and its literal years of disregard. So I'll be moving the best art from that old account, panhandler@da, over the next few days, and hopefully begin uploading new and better art here soon thereafter.
